Kim Jong-eun is arranging to have statues of himself, his father, Kim Jong-il, and his grandfather, Kim Il-sung, built on the top of the highest North Korean peak, Mount Paektu. The reason for this is their "history" with that mountain. As North Korean history puts it, Kim Jong-il was born in a hut on Mount Paektu. Historical documents we have access to say he was born in a Russian refugee camp. Another reason for the statues is to commemorate the birthdays of all three leaders.
Many North Koreans can't even manage to eat one meal every day, yet Kim Jong-eun has spent 131 billion KPW (the equivalent of 141.5 million USD) on statues of ancestors and political figures in the past five years.
