Religious freedom benefits everyone. Religious freedom gives you the opportunity to worship as you choose, whether that be worship of a God or not. We should not give Atheist's or Theist's more rights than the other.
I like your comment about giving both theists and atheists equal rights. If we all respect each other and don't push others to behave according to our beliefs then more people would feel comfortable meeting in a middle ground because they would not feel so defensive.
