Natural Law Preparation

You guys were heroic today.  I thought it was really interesting that so many governments were formed to try to find a solution.  That is usually how it works out when a government is being oppressive.  It gives me more respect for the founding fathers who held it together and formed a free government when they were under such stress.

Write: Pick a favorite natural law from the following list and explain it to someone who has never heard of it. Convince them of its importance in their lives.

1.  Law of Supremacy Natural law, not man made law, is supreme; it is the basis of all freedom and success, and all man made constitutions and laws must adhere to natural law or freedom will decrease.

2.  Law of Authority  In free societies, all government power comes from the people.

3.  Law of Limits Free governments only succeed when they are strong and vigorous, and freedom only lasts if their power is effectively limited.

4.  Law of Delegation The people may not delegate to government any power they do not possess by natural law.

5.  Law of Force Humans can only morally use force on other people for self-defense, and government can only morally use force on people for the collective self-defense; any other use of government power is a violation of natural law.

6. Law of Decline When governments break natural law, they bring the decline of freedom and the decline of prosperity on their own nation.

7. Law of Power  It is the nature of power to try to centralize, and once it is centralized to attempt to expand its control.

8. Law of Gaps Freedom is found in the gaps where governments compete for power.

9. Law of the Vital Few Through history, real freedom ultimately depends on the leadership of a few ordinary people who do extraordinary things.

10. Law of Liberty When freedom is reduced for some, it is reduced for all

11. Law of the Economy All powers delegated to government must be entrusted to the lowest level of government that can effectively accomplish the desired goal; nations that adhere to this principle are consistently strong, vigorous, and vibrant.

12. Law of Progress The actual level of freedom and prosperity in any society is directly equivalent to the level of free enterprise.

Lauren, Tabitha, and Josh: prepare a presentation of your choice  which shows natural laws which are being violated and the results, OR natural laws which are being followed and the results.
