assignments for the week of September 6

Thanks to everyone for a fun first day.  I hope you're excited about learning American History.  To get started this week, here are your assignments:

• Read Everything You Need to Ace American History In One Big Fat Notebook pages 5-34.
• Watch CNN10 each day.  If you're pressed for time, watch at least the first half of each.
• Read a news article and post a link to the blog with a summary or your thoughts about the article.  It should be something happening in the United States or between the US and another country.  
• Select your biography and create a schedule that allows you to finish reading it in 4-6 weeks.  If you need help with this, please let me know or talk to your mom.  Next week we'll sign up to do presentations about your people, so you'll want to have a good idea of how long it's going to take to read your biography.

Special bonus assignment: read the chapter about Columbus in Seven Miracles That Saved America.  I don't know what special reward I'll have for you if you do it, but it will be something.  :)
