Read the next page of the Constitution from your binder.

I would like you to get familiar with George Washington's Farewell Address.  In your binder, you'll find the full text.  If you're up for that, go ahead and read it, but it's some pretty stiff reading, and he spoke for a good half hour.  It's a tradition for the Senate to have someone read the Farewell Address to the Senate each year.  If you'd like to listen to the Farewell Address, here is a link to the 2016 reading: https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4581811/washingtons-farewell-address-reading-2016  Since the original text is somewhat wordy and very 1700s in grammar and vocabulary, you may want to read this updated version instead or as well: http://nibleycitycouncil.com/farewell_address_today.html  My hope is that the high school students will give the full text a try, even just listening while coloring or something like that. You may wish to read the updated version first for help in understanding though. For the junior high students, I think the updated version is probably a good choice on its own.  We will spend a couple of weeks on this, so read at least half.  You don't need to do a detailed analysis.  Just read!
