The fires in California are not getting any better, so an elite team of men and women is being called out. They're called Smokejumpers. These men aren't your typical firefighter. And they aren't the typical skydivers either. They're both. These men and women are trained to be ready to literally jump out of a plane to fight fires in remote areas like forests that trucks will take time to get to. In a way similar to military paratroopers, they have to be able to fend for themselves to a degree, go for a day or two with zero sleep whatsoever, and other things that eliminate this job from my list of possible future employments. Actually, this job was eliminated as soon as I realized they jump out of planes. Deal breaker right there.

Yeah, I wouldn't do this job either. But they're amazing for doing it!
